BUSINESS FUNDING AND PROGRAMS:

 Canada Alberta Job Grant: ongoing application intake

The Canada-Alberta Job Grant is a training program where an employer applies on behalf of their present or future employees for eligible training costs. Employers decide who gets training and what type of training may be needed for their employees.

Alberta Export Expansion Program: open until all funding is allocated

Funding to help small and medium-sized enterprises, municipalities, Indigenous communities, industry associations, and Ec. Dev. organizations to promote Alberta exports through international
business travel or bringing international buyers to Alberta.

Prairies Economic Development Canada – Funding Programs: Financial support for businesses and not-for-profit organizations with projects that advance economic growth and diversity in the Prairie provinces.

Digital Economy Program – Business Link: The Digital Economy Program (DEP) is designed to help small businesses take their businesses online. This program, a partnership between Business Link and Digital Main Street, will help small businesses in Alberta undergo digital transformations and adopt eCommerce practices. DEP is open to home-based or commercial small businesses registered in Alberta with less than 50 employees.

The Drought and Flood Protection Program (DFPP) is a multi-year grant program to help municipalities and Indigenous communities improve their long-term resilience to drought and floods events.
Professional Development for Arts Professionals | Arts Professionals | Deadline: June 12, 2024
This supports the career growth of Canadian arts professionals by encouraging knowledge-sharing and participation in a wide range of development opportunities. Grants fund activities that contribute to the advancement of Canadian arts professionals.
Industrial Transformation Challenge | Agriculture, Forestry, Industrial Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, & more | Deadline: June 21, 2024
This year’s Industrial Transformation Challenge will provide up to $50 million towards technology scale-up, pilot demonstration, and first-of-kind projects that present transformative solutions for Alberta’s industrial sectors and contribute to reducing emissions and catalyzing economic opportunities.

Canadian Technology Accelerator: Silicon Valley Autotech | SMEs | Deadline: July 31, 2024
The Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) AutoTech Silicon Valley, a partnership between the Trade Commissioner Service and the Province of Ontario, is a program designed to support Canadian startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access the global automotive industry through Silicon Valley tech scouts and corporate strategic investors.
Community Revitalization Levy Program | Municipalities | Ongoing
The Community Revitalization Levy (CRL) program allows municipalities to borrow against future property tax revenues to help pay for infrastructure development required in a specific area. The levy is typically in place for 20 years, and no longer than 40 years.
Establishing the Heroes' Fund | Families | Ongoing
The Ensuring Safety and Cutting Red Tape Act, 2020 (Bill 47) provides funding to eligible families of first responders who sacrificed their life to maintain public safety.

Business Beautification/Enhancement Grant - Policy Guidelines

The purpose of this program is to encourage and provide businesses with the opportunity to improve and/or update the appearance of their business, within the following prescribed zones as per local Land Use Bylaw regulations in each Municipality:

  • Town of Castor: C-1 and HWY -C
  • Town of Coronation: C-1, C-2 HWY C
  • Village of Halkirk: C- Commercial
  • County of Paintearth: RC1

Applicants can apply for a rebate of 50% up to a maximum of $2,000 per business location for improvements to their commercial building.

Canada Digital Adoption Program: Promotional resources

The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) can help get your business online, give your e-commerce presence a boost or digitalize your business's operations.

The program offers two grants.

The Grow Your Business Online grant helps small businesses take advantage of e-commerce opportunities.

  • Access a network of e-commerce advisors for advice and support.
  • Get a microgrant of up to $2,400 to buy new e-commerce tools.

The Boost Your Business Technology grant helps small and medium-sized businesses adopt new digital technologies.

  • Use a free digital assessment tool to evaluate your business's digital readiness.
  • Get a grant of up $15,000 to consult a digital expert and develop a digital adoption plan for your business.
  • Get up to $100,000 in interest-free loans from BDC to implement your digital adoption plan.
  • Leverage a subsidized work placement to bring on a recent graduate or student to help with your digital transformation.
