Musical Minestrone Featuring Louise McMurray - Solo Alphorn Saturday September 30, 2023 7 pm Holy Trinity United Church - Coronation The Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra kicks off its second season with a program of music to make your mouth water. Musical Minestrone will treat you to a five course dinner of music about food with dinner music selections from the chamber music repertoire. Our musical dinner begins with some fruit in the form a the March from Prokofiev’s opera The Love for Three Oranges. Then on to William Bolcom’s Lime Jello, Marshmallow, Cottage Cheese Surprise. Along the way, we feature the Ballad for Alphorn and Strings and Amazing Grace for Alphorn and Strings with solo alphorn played by Louise McMurray on an alphorn built right here in Red Deer, by her husband Adam Newman. Also featured are Martinu’s de Revue la Cuisine, Bernstein’s Le Bonne Cusine, and Stravinsky’s Ragtime, with our soup (Bob’s Chill Rag), and main course (Spaghetti Rag). Of course, you can’t have a meal without dishes from which to eat, so Ralph Vaughn Williams provides us with the March Past of the Kitchen Utensils from The Wasps. This evening will leave you hungry for the rest of CACO’s season 2 - A Charlie Brown Christmas - December 15, 16, and 17 in Red Deer, Ponoka, and Innisfail, A CACO Vacation - South of the Border - February 24 and 25, 2024 in Red Deer and Rocky Mountain House, and Country AND Westerns - May 24 and 25 2024 in Red Deer and Ponoka. Jake Vaadeland

Jake Vaadeland is a self taught multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Saskatchewan, Canada. His traditional sound and unique style could be defined as a blend of Bluegrass and 50s Rockabilly, with Jake also specializing on guitar and banjo in addition to his impressive vocals. Jake strives to write and play with a focus on storytelling and messages that he hopes his audience can relate to, all packaged in foot stomping, high energy performances with The Sturgeon River Boys.

2022 proved to be a remarkable year for Jake Vaadeland, as he received 2 Saskatchewan Music Awards, including Album of the Year for his album Everybody But Me, along with Roots/Folk Artist of the Year. In addition, he was awarded four 2022 Saskatchewan Country Music Awards, including Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Alternative Country Album of the Year and Emerging Artist of the Year. His debut album, Retro Man finished at #2 in fan voting for the Saskatchewan Music Awards Album of the Year in 2021.

Creedence Clearwater Reprisal is a Canadian tribute to the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival and John Fogerty. They bring to life Fogerty's songs in an energetic and authentic way that few can do. With a song list spanning from the early days of Creedence all the way to Fogerty's 1997 album Blue Moon Swamp, Creedence Clearwater Reprisal hits all the high points in between to bring a wide ranging musical tribute to one of Rock and Roll's greatest bands and songwriters.
